BAGNAAt the middle part of Brgy. Atlag and Panasahan, a plant named Bagna rose w/c became the landmark to detect the boundary of the said barangays. As time went by, the two boundaries met at the end of the two barangays became a community of several families. And used the said community as Barangay Bagna. According to Mr. Eugenio Estrella Jr., the said Barangay used its official name after the Cadastral survey made where during that time he was the Tenyente del Barrio, And his adviser Mr. Gabriel Fernando who was known as Cabesang Ambin. There were two sitios of Bagna from the Start of its existence, Sitio Sulok and Talabahan. Some members of the community developed their spiritual lives after they have saved a cross made of wood from “Wawang Atlag”, which they built an altar in a place where Bagnio plant were planted. There was a remarkable history of Bagna in the history of Malolos. Because in this place was born a well-known priest Father Gregorio Crisostomo. During that time, Bagna had a community of 500 families with 1,468 females and 1,458 males with a total of 2926 inhabitants. The source of living in this place was place oyster raising and oyster vending, which made Bagna a well known place. Other source of livelihood of this place was farming and fish pond managing. Development and improvement of their spiritual lives during that time were led by Mr. Dominador Mendoza and other members of the Pastoral Council: Bernando Ongkeko; Vice Pres; Eugenio Estrella Jr., Secretary; Martin Bernal, Treasurer; Graciano Cruz, Auditor; Martial Aniag Sr., Anselmo Castro, Rufino Cruz at Federico Buenaventura, advisers. After the term was ended, another group of Spiritual leaders came in the persons of: Ramon Fernando, President Florentino Cruz, Vice President Benjamin Cruz, Secretary Reynaldo Eugenio, Treasurer Ernesto Ramos, Graciano Roque and Pablo Buenaventura, Councilors. |
MATIMBOFrom a much forested area mostly wild grass known as “tambo” was born a new barrio in the southern part of Malolos. It was estimated that Matimbo is formally organized as a barrio in the early years of the 17th century. From the heart of the town proper Christian civilization flows thru the barrio, thus emerging a new barrio to be a part of the historic town of Malolos.
According to stories and tales, the name Matimbo was taken from the fact that so many “tambo” grew in the place so many people will usually comment that the place was “matambo”. The plant is a source of a livelihood of the residence they will bind together a number of “tambo” and they will produce a product use in cleaning utensils. They sell it their nearby barrios to earn a living. Later on the barrio was named “Matimbo”. At present there is no more a trace of the tambo. It only serves as the memory of the past. The forested area was converted into rice fields where it became the main source of the living of the people, farming and buntal making. They seek the guidance and intersession of their patron saint San Isidro Labrador. The center of their everyday life is the chapel and the school where the elders meet for their spiritual development and the youth of the barrio pursue their education. Cottage industries like bag making contributed a lot for their economic advancement and the means to finance the study of their children. The barrio became famous for these industries not only in Malolos, and in the nearby towns but also in Manila and nearby provinces where they transport their bag products. San Isidro Labrador is still their patron saint whose fiesta they celebrate every May 15 of every year. In the past and present times, Matimbo played a major role in the development of the town, spiritually and politically. It has produced sons and daughters who excel thru their God given talents in field of education, health, engineering, various industries, political and peace and order, contributing a big factor in the development and progress of Malolos. Department of Education leads the way to Rationalization Program wherein the City Schools Division of Malolos was then upgraded to medium size Division. That was the reason why the City Schools Division from later two Districts became ten Districts. As per Division Memorandum no 20 s. 2015 " The Clustering of Schools per District". The District 9 is composed of Panasahan E/S, GITMES, Mambog E/S and Bagna E/S or simply called "PanaTimBogNa" The District Supervisor was assigned to Dr. Nelly Guevarra a former Principal of Bulacan District, The District Office was also temporarily installed by Dr. Allan Alba and Located at H.E. Model Home Gitna, Matimbo City of Malolos. |
